When I saw that Armani were releasing a full coverage, long wear foundation I may have squealed. I’m a lover of Luminous Silk, but as my skin gets very oily throughout the day a longer lasting formula was a potential game changer for me. So here are my opinions on the Power Fabric Foundation.
Firstly what are Giorgio Armani claiming this foundation will deliver to you?
- full coverage
- luminous finish
- second skin finish
- SPF 25
What about the price?
- at £40 per 30ml it’s definitely at the pricer end of high end foundation
What’s the shade range like?
- 15 shades and a handy chart here to help you pick your shade if you’re currently using Giorgio Armani foundation
- I picked up Shade 6, which you can see in this swatch compared to L’oreal True Match in Shade W3 and W4
So, does it live up to the claims?
In short, yes.
Firstly the shade match is perfect for me, I bought shade 6 and it matches my skin perfectly, the undertone in neither too yellow nor pink. I apply it with a damp blending sponge and find it blends into my skin immediately and really does leave a second skin finish. It doesn’t highlight any pores or fine lines – I think this is the most flattering foundation I’ve found for my large pores and blackheads around my nose. The coverage is what I would describe as naturally high coverage. It doesn’t give that mask-like effect, so some blemishes and imperfections will show through but I personally prefer this as it has a beautifully natural finish. You can easily go in with a high coverage concealer to perfect the finish even further if you want an even higher coverage.
In terms of wear it definitely does look oily throughout the day, it doesn’t keep me matte for hours however as I said before I think this helps to maintain the natural look of the skin. At the five or six hour mark I use a blotting sheet and I find this removes all of the oil without ruining my base.
Overall I am completely in love with this foundation and it’s one of the best foundations I’ve found for my skin. However it’s definitely not high coverage, matte mask-like finish (think Estee Lauder Double Wear) so I feel like some oily skinned people won’t like this one. But for me it gives me a natural skin look which is weightless and flattering for everyday wear but can be built up with concealer to give a perfect ‘night out’ finish. I think any normal/dry skins will love this as it didn’t cling to any texture in my skin so hopefully wouldn’t cling to any dry patches.
Have you tried this foundation, what did you think of it?
